Clippers Explode on Astonishing Run to Trounce the Nets cover image

Brooklyn watched Los Angeles Erupt early before rolling to the one-sided rout.

The Brooklyn Nets shot at 20% to start the game -- becoming the first early sign of a one-sided night.

Sure enough, the Los Angeles Clippers leaped to a 24-point lead to end the opening period before cruising to the 126-89 rout inside the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.

The Nets entered as an 8.5-point underdog. Brooklyn even struck first -- with Michael Porter Jr. hitting a reverse layup.

Drake Powell followed later by hitting a 22-foot three-pointer off a Porter assist. LAC, however, responded with an 8-0 run to take a 12-5 lead.

Terance Mann hit a 26-foot three-pointer to halt the run. Porter late made two free throws to cut the lead to 12-10.

The Clippers, however, ignited a 15-0 run to start putting the game away early. Day'Ron Sharpe broke that run up with a put back dunk at the 3:07 left. Danny Wolf scored the last points for Brooklyn -- hitting both from the free throw line.

Los Angeles' largest lead became 40 late. Brooklyn never got close throughout the night and following the early first quarter.

Brooklyn's Nic Claxton also noticeably played through pain. The big injured a finger late against the Clippers despite not landing on the injury report before the game.

The Nets also welcomed back Ben Saraf -- who hasn't earn minutes in more than four weeks. He managed to chip in six points through 17 minutes.

Brooklyn got 12 different players to get on the final scoring stat sheet. However, not a single Nets player surpassed the 20-point mark...let alone 15 points.

Wolf led the way in dropping 14 points off the bench. Fellow rookie Egor Demin chipped in 12 points, which led all of the starters. Porter got bottled to nine points in 22 minutes while Jalen Wilson included the same scoring mark.

Mann and Sharpe both scored eight points apiece. Ziaire Williams added seven points as a reserve. Claxton joined Saraf in scoring six points -- though the starter hit that mark through 24 minutes of action.

Brooklyn shot a dismal 21% from behind the arc. They ended the evening settling for 34% from field goal range. LAC outrebounded them 51-36. The Clippers also earned 17 fast break points compared to the Nets' 11.
