Blockbuster mock trade sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors' offseason has been filled with reports and rumors, mostly concerning Steve Kerr and his status as the Warriors' head coach.

With the NBA playoffs in full swing, there hasn't been much time for people to involve the Warriors in many of the hypothetical or hyperbolic rumors that often rule social media in the dog days of June and July.

However, that doesn't mean they're off the hook. Wild ideas never stop, even if the first round is underway and the Warriors don't technically have a head coach under contract.

Blockbuster Mock Trade Sends Giannis Antetokounmpo To Warriors

On Monday, Bleacher Report fulfilled its evergreen duty of proposing wild trade ideas into the aether, and this time, they involved the Warriors.

A mock trade proposed by writer Eric Pincus described a deal between the Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks, sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to Golden State in exchange for Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski, and first-round picks this year, next year, and in 2030 and 2032.

The latter two picks would be protected, but the next two years of picks going unprotected would mean, at least for this year, the Bucks obtain a lottery pick that has just under a 10% chance to rise into the top-4.

The picks are the most valuable part of the deal, even if there's some level of protection on the ones further down the line, since Steph Curry is likely to be retired by then, and the Warriors project to be much worse once he's out of the picture.

Podziemski also represents a current asset that provides quality play and still has the potential to grow into an All-Star level player if given the right opportunities and situation, while Butler can be flipped in another trade, kept as a veteran player, or simply allowed to leave to clear cap space.

It seems like a hefty package from the Warriors, but Antetokounmpo might be one of the few players in the entire NBA who would be worth mortgaging an entire future for.

The two-time MVP has made All-NBA First Team in every season since the 2018-19 season, when he won his first MVP, and has also been in the top four in MVP voting in all of those seasons, too.

There's an exception for this season since he didn't meet the minimum games played requirement, only appearing in 36 games due to a few different injuries, but the Greek Freak still averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game on 62.4% shooting from the field in just under 29 minutes per game.

His fit with Curry projects to be off-the-charts, as well. Antetokounmpo is perhaps the best roll man in the entire league, and the defensive attention required to guard his finishing and Curry's shooting might break the brains of coaches around the league.

Next to Draymond Green, the Warriors' defense would also be astounding. Antetokounmpo is a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a 5-time All-Defensive Team member, and the switchability between him and Green being able to guard one through five would give opposing players fits.

There were already rumors at the trade deadline that Antetokounmpo could have been traded to Golden State, and it's been a simmering problem in Milwaukee that their face of the franchise may want out, thanks to a lack of success since their 2021 championship, though Antetokounmpo hesitates to officially make such displeasure publicly known.

If something like this gets done, it'd change the outlook for the Warriors and the landscape of the NBA in a huge way.
