Are the Golden State Warriors star chasing?
If they were hoping to bring in another star or relief for Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors have struck out this offseason.
The team has re-signed Draymond Green, Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis, and De'Anthony Melton, but lost Quentin Post to an offer sheet courtesy of the Memphis Grizzlies.
They were heavily linked to LeBron James, though Steve Kerr isn't buying that the Warriors were close to landing "The King," but James ended up heading east, signing with the Philadelphia 76ers.
After news of LeBron's signing, it was reported that the Warriors were talking with the Boston Celtics about potentially acquiring Jaylen Brown.
A deal never came to fruition, and Brown was dealt to the 76ers in exchange for Paul George, who was linked to the Warriors in the 2024 offseason when he was set to leave the Los Angeles Clippers.
Are The Warriors Star Chasing?
Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic recently reported that Steph Curry is tired of the Warriors "star chasing" as they look to keep a contender around the four-time champion.
Speaking on The Draymond Green Show, Warriors forward Draymond Green weighed in on the report.
"What I wanna point out is PROBABLY... probably would mean, maybe he is, maybe he isn't, you definitely can't just cross the probably out... I don't know what the hell Steph's tired of but what I do believe is that if Steph was tired of something, that he would say that... Steph LIVE for tough conversations," he said.
Along with LeBron James and Jaylen Brown this offseason, the Warriors were linked to Anthony Davis, with the thought being that if they could acquire Davis from the Washington Wizards, they would have a better shot at landing LeBron James.
At the 2026 NBA trade deadline, the Warriors were reportedly talking to the Milwaukee Bucks about Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Los Angeles Clippers about Kawhi Leonard. Neither trade happened, and both players were moved to different teams in the offseason.
At the 2025 NBA trade deadline, the Warriors did acquire Jimmy Butler, but only after having talks with the Phoenix Suns about Kevin Durant.
Is Draymond Right?
Only Steph Curry knows for sure if he's tired of the team star chasing. If that's what they're doing, they haven't been very successful, only landing Butler in recent years.
Curry most likely still wants to compete, whether that means bringing in another star or building a team around him that can remain competitive as he starts to slow down.
