Ballhalla reminds Stepth Curry of the past.

The Golden State Valkyries have been one of the most exciting stories in the WNBA since they played their inaugural season in 2025 and now, in just their second season as a franchise, they're already in the midst of a potentially deep playoff run and making Bay Area basketball, which has become so accustomed to success, proud.

They've shot up the WNBA's evaluation to become the league's most valuable franchise and have consistently sold out Chase Center for home games as they've grown to be even more of a sensation under the leadership of head coach Natalie Nakase, headlined by fan favorites like Veronica Burton and Gabby Williams.

The way that the Valkyries have taken over the hearts of the Bay Area has been nothing short of meteoric and the fan atmosphere they've cultivated has Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry thinking about the good old days of the his own team's time in Oracle Arena.

Curry has become a regular at "Ballhalla" what Chase Center becomes when the Valkyries take the court, and in a recent interview during a game between the Valkyries and the Paige Bueckers-led Dallas Wings, a game that the Valkyries took 78-70, Curry spoke on the fan atmosphere inside Ballhalla and how it reminded him of the Warriors' crowds of the past.

Curry Reminisces

“It’s definitely reminiscent for sure, which is kind of a great vibe from Oracle to Chase [where] we play, and then what Ballhalla has meant for the last 2 years. So hopefully they have a great end to the year. They’re obviously playing amazing basketball, and seeing that they have a great chemistry, it’s great to watch," Curry said (via jinthirty on X).

The way that the Valkyries have taken flight in the Bay shows just how hungry that fans in the Bay have been for show-stopping basketball and it's a notable contract to the product that the Warriors have put on the court as of late.

The Warriors haven't given their fans in the Bay Area nearly as much to cheer for as of late compared to the Valkyries after a disappointing season 37-45 and were eliminated in the Play-In tournament and have since had a mostly inactive offseason that doesn't promise that next season will be much of an improvement.

Warriors Fall, Valkyries Rise

For so many years, from Oracle Arena to Chase Center, it was the Warriors that were filling seats and summoning cheers from the crowd, but that hasn't been the case for a handful of years now as Curry's career is winding down.

With stagnation in the offseason and something in between a rebuild and running it back being the Warriors' new M.O. for the near future, it's unknown when exactly they'll be able to warrant those kinds of crowds again.

Now there's a new crowd-pleasing team in Bay, and they wear violet.
