Steve Kerr is reportedly being urged to return to broadcasting.

Now, it seems like a third party is injecting itself into the discussion and giving Kerr a real third option besides returning to the Warriors or retiring.

Kerr Reportedly Being Urged To Return To Broadcasting

On Sunday, NBA reporter Marc Stein wrote in The Stein Line about updates across the NBA, including new reports on Kerr's situation.

"League sources tell The Stein Line that ESPN's top executives have been lobbying Kerr aggressively to try to convince him to return to the world of NBA broadcasting, but the Warriors are expected to meet with Kerr as early as Monday to resume discussions about his status. I'm told Golden State has been operating internally in recent days as though it is more likely than not that a common ground can be found with the 60-year-old on a new deal that would keep him in place coaching Stephen Curry."

Kerr has a history on the mic, as he spent time from 2003 to 2007 and from 2010 to 2014 as a color commentator for TNT's NBA games. Some fans might also remember Kerr as one of the commentators in the NBA Live and NBA 2K video game series, as he was featured alongside Marv Albert from NBA Live 06 to NBA Live 10, and alongside Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg from NBA 2K12 to NBA 2K15.

When he was active as a broadcaster, the general consensus was that Kerr was pretty good. He had a wealth of knowledge from his time as a player across multiple championship teams, and now, when he can add his time in the front office with the Phoenix Suns and his coaching career with the Warriors, Kerr projects to be one of the most knowledgeable options in the industry.

Combined with his solid speaking skills that have been mostly shown through his press conferences over the past decade-plus, it's no wonder ESPN is trying to nab Kerr to bolster their roster, especially as the other networks, such as NBC and Amazon Prime, joined the fray this year with guns blazing.

Of course, if this reporting is to be believed in full, it looks like ESPN may have to pivot to another option if they want a new recruit. The Warriors obviously would like to keep Kerr with Steph Curry and Draymond Green if they can work out the differences that the two sides were reported to have, and it'd be a win for the franchise if they're able to retain him for at least one more season.
