The Warriors got some key injury updates ahead of their matchup against Jonathan Kuminga and the Hawks.

About a month and a half ago, the Golden State Warriors put an end to the Jonathan Kuminga debacle by trading him to the Atlanta Hawks the night before the trade deadline alongside Buddy Hield in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis.

Now, as they start to wind down their six-game road trip along the East Coast, the Warriors will face off against their former top-ten pick for the first time when they visit the Hawks on Saturday evening.

However, the Warriors will still need some luck on their side as they remain extremely shorthanded with a plethora of names on the injury report.

Warriors Still Shorthanded, But Getting Closer

Despite the laundry list of players listed as out or questionable on their injury report, the Warriors will head into Saturday evening's festivities against the Hawks with a bit of positive news in their back pocket.

A few hours before tipoff, Warriors PR announced updates for both Steph Curry and Moses Moody's injuries.

Curry has missed the past 20 games due to runner's knee and bone bruising. He was re-evaluated on Saturday, exactly on schedule, and the medical staff indicated that Curry has continued making good progress. He's intensifying his on-court workouts and will be incorporated into live action and team practices this week.

The announcement also states that Curry will be re-evaluated once again when the team returns home on Tuesday, adding fuel to the fire of the cautiously optimistic report that Curry may return by the end of March.

For Moody, who has missed the last 9 games with a sprained right wrist, he's also making good progress and has intensified his on-court work with shooting drills. He will also be incorporated into live action in the coming days and will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.

Of course, they're both listed as out for this matchup with the Hawks, alongside Jimmy Butler, Seth Curry, Al Horford, and Kristaps Porzingis. Notably, Porzingis is listed as out due to back tightness, an issue that flared up during last night's game against the Pistons. He thus won't be playing against the team he was with earlier this season.

Players listed as questionable for the Warriors include Draymond Green, Malevy Leons, De'Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, and Quinten Post. Considering it's the second night of a back-to-back, the expectation is that not all of these players will end up playing, but with only 7 players otherwise not on the injury report, at least a few of these guys will have to tough it out and suit up.

In comparison, the Atlanta Hawks have a completely clean injury report, outside of their G-League players. Kuminga missed their game yesterday â€” a blowout loss against the Rockets â€” but is all set to go today against his former team.

The injuries dampen the allure of this one, but it'll still be exciting to see how Kuminga will fare against Steve Kerr and his old friends.
