It’s near the end of the offseason, with media days and training camps getting underway.

That means power rankings are beginning to be pushed out as experts let fans know where things stand following the offseason.

ESPN ranked the top 100 players coming into the 2026-27 season, which is sure to cause plenty of debate.

For the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry is ranked at number 12, which is a five-spot drop from his number seven ranking last year. Durability concerns are cited as to why Curry dropped out of the top ten.

Curry played in 43 games last season, averaging 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists on 46% shooting and 39% from three.

Curry is ranked ahead of Jaylen Brown (14) and Kevin Durant (13), but below Tyrese Maxey (11) and Donovan Mitchell (10)

Maxey has improved in each season, turning in his best year ever last season with a career-high 28.3 points per game, good enough for fifth-best in the league. Mitchell is credited with leading the Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference Finals and for his offensive consistency.

The knock on Curry’s durability is valid after he missed half the season with lower-body injuries and is 38 years old, but with the promise of health, how many teams or fans are taking Mitchell over Curry?

Curry might not be as consistent as he was at the peak of his powers, but his highs are still higher than 99% of the league.

There is a strong argument for Maxey given how he played last season, though many could still prefer a healthy Curry as his track record speaks for itself.

Coming off a season where he missed long stretches and watched his second star, Jimmy Butler, go down with an ACL injury, and his team fell from a playoff spot to the bottom of the Play-In tournament, Curry likely has something to prove this year.

He’s already noted that his contract situation will take care of itself, it won’t be a distraction, and that he’s focused on staying healthy and leading the Warriors.

Curry is entering the final year of his contract and is eligible to sign a two-year, $136.7 million extension.

In the twilight of his career, he’s looking to prove that he can still be the best player on a championship team. He proved as much in 2022 when the Warriors won the championship, but that was four years ago.
