It’s Junior Day in Tuscaloosa!
The day where the Alabama Crimson Tide’s football staff hosts several top recruits who are either rising seniors or juniors in high school in an attempt to convince them to come play for one of college football’s most prestigious programs.
Here at BamaRoundtable, we’ve been reporting that the wheels have been turning in getting a commitment from the top-ranked quarterback in the 2027 class, Elijah Haven.
Haven has been taking his time, slowly studying all of his options, but it seems like Alabama has continued to stay at the top of the list, with both On3 and 247Sports predicting a Haven commitment.
This will have been the third time that the school has hosted Haven, more than any school that has targeted him.
Earlier, Haven was a priority target for programs like Florida and LSU, but after the firings of Billy Napier of Florida and Brian Kelly of LSU, it appeared like the Tide was the top choice.
However, new Tigers coach Lane Kiffin is an aggressive recruiter, and the Louisiana-native Haven has a visit scheduled to Baton Rouge on February 1.
What’s interesting is that Alabama already has a commitment from a 2027 quarterback, and that’s four-star Trent Seaborn, who is also attending Junior Day.
Seaborn, an Alabaster, AL native already has Crimson Tide ties, as he was coached directly under Alabama alum, Tua Tagovailoa’s father.
Other than quarterback, the Tide are hosting five-star cornerback John Meredith and wide receiver Monshun Sales – the latter ranking first out of all wide receivers in the 2027 class according to 247, but second according to Rivals.
Last week, head coach Kalen DeBoer and general manager Courtney Morgan went to visit Sales in Indiana as a primer for his visit for Junior Day.
For those who don’t know, Sales is a towering 6-foot-5, with a whole lot more room to grow in muscle out of Indianapolis. But throughout high school, he adopted the nickname “Bama,” from teammates and coaches due to him originally being from the Yellowhammer State.
Even before he was nicknamed “Bama,” he had an affinity for the program, and it would seem that would be a catalyst in bringing him to T-Town.
Earlier, On3’s VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong had predicted Sales to commit to Alabama, however, Sales visited the reigning National Champions, Indiana Hoosiers during their championship parade.
In regards to Meredith, Alabama has also put a full-court press on him, dating back to during the season as he visited campus during the Vanderbilt game.
Defensive back coach Maurice Linguist had visited Meredith earlier in the month and solidified the Junior Day visit.
Currently, 247 has Meredith as the number-six ranked prospect in the 2027 class, and Alabama is currently duking it out with Texas A&M for the right to land him, which immediately puts this Junior Day visit as critical as possible.
Among other players who are in town for Junior Day are Alabama commits, Jabarrius Garror, Nash Johnson III and Colt Lumpris.
But other interesting visits are former Alabama commits in linebacker Ba’Roc Willis, as well as interior offensive lineman Jatori Williams, who re-opened up his recruitment on December 1.
