The Duke Blue Devils were one of the highest-ranked teams in the NCAA Tournament Committee's recent top-16 rankings.

With just five games left in the 2025-26 college basketball season, the Duke Blue Devils and head coach Jon Scheyer continue to prove why the program is one of the best teams in the nation this year.

Duke has been one of the most consistent teams in college basketball this season, as the Blue Devils sit at 24-2 heading into their primetime matchup against the No. 1-ranked Michigan Wolverines. Led by star forward Cameron Boozer, the program has found a nice blend of excellent offense and stout defense.

While many fans believe that Duke will easily be in the running for a National Championship this year, the Blue Devils received even more confirmation this week.

On Saturday afternoon, the NCAA Tournament Committee announced the top-16 teams as of late February, with Duke claiming the No. 2 spot and one of four No. 1 seeds for the upcoming tournament.

This year, the Blue Devils have managed to live up to all the hype and high expectations set upon the program prior to the beginning of the season.

Duke kicked off the year on an impressive 11-0 run, defeating the likes of multiple ranked teams. This included massive victories over the reigning National Champions, the Florida Gators, and the Michigan State Spartans. And despite suffering two heartbreaking losses to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the North Carolina Tar Heels, Scheyer’s squad has yet to falter this season.

One of the main reasons for the program’s success this year has been Boozer, as the freshman forward has taken over the college basketball world by storm. During his first year in Chapel Hill, the highly-regarded playmaker has averaged 22.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.

Looking ahead at the rest of the Blue Devils’ regular season schedule, the red-hot program is set to face three schools ranked within the top-25, making for an interesting end to the regular season. However, with Duke ranking as the No. 2 team in the country by the NCAA Tournament Committee, the Blue Devils have seemingly secured a top seed for March.
