As the Florida Gators eye a massive SEC upset, the status of their prized wide receiver transfer remains a game-time decision.

The Florida Gators would love to be at full strength against Ole Miss, but they're taking a wait-and-see approach with wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr.

Singleton Jr. appeared on the initial injury report as questionable, something that comes as no surprise knowing he's missed the last two games.

Getting him back for this ranked showdown would be a huge boost for the Gators, especially since he was one of their prized offseason transfers.

The former Georgia Tech and Auburn wideout doesn't have a reception since he was still with the Tigers on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, when he had three for 26 yards against Alabama.

Jon Sumrall on Singleton Jr.'s status

The first injury report for the Gators vs. Rebels saw Singleton Jr. as the lone injured player, and that's great news as Florida is looking for a massive upset that would truly put them in the College Football Playoff conversation.

Ole Miss has already ruled six players out, and four more are listed as questionable just a few days ahead of one of the biggest SEC showdowns of the season.

"He will come back when he's right," Jon Sumrall told On3's Zach Abolverdi in regard to Singleton Jr.

He continued, "You never know what’s going to happen with a guy, but we’re going to make good, educated decisions about his return. He will have a shot."

Sumrall discussed the fact that Singleton Jr. was a "game-time decision" last week against Auburn, and everyone knows that's a game he was itching to get into.

Obviously, his long-term health is the top priority of this team. Sumrall said he did "a little bit more" on Monday, Sept. 21 than what he's done since going down with an injury.

Sumrall's assessment is that this is going to be a true game-time decision, saying "Saturday we'll warm him up and if he is great, we're going to play."

Florida's pass-game could use the boost

Everyone knows about Jadan Baugh and what he's been able to do on the ground, but Florida's pass-game could certainly use a boost.

Through his first three games with the Gators, Aaron Philo is 47/64 for 721 yards with six touchdowns to two interceptions.

This team only has a pair of receivers above 100 passing yards, and both are competing to be WR1 on this team.

The dynamic duo of Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson is great for the time being, but one can only imagine what Philo could do with Singleton Jr. back into the mix.

Receiving wise, that trio could be one of the best in the conference, and this is a Florida team that has quickly rose through the ranks here in 2026.
