The Seminoles took down Michigan in the first game of the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series.

Florida State baseball survived the first test of the loaded Amegy Bank College Baseball Series on Friday thanks to a deep swinging lineup.

Michigan watched eight different Seminole players chip a hit -- fueling the 6-1 FSU victory at Arlington, Tex.

In total, Florida State mustered 13 team hits against the Wolverines. Jace Estes pounded out three to lead the way -- including driving two runners home. The sophomore also scored twice in delivering a career-best night.

Yet he wasn't the only one producing a three-hit outing.

Sophomore third baseman Gabe Fraser grinded out a trio of hits too for his own career-best moment. He added two runs scored and ended the day a home run shy of the cycle.

Junior left fielder Brayden Dowd pounded two hits, two RBIs and a run. Noah Sheffield, son of famed MLB All-Star and World Series champion Gary, smacked one hit too -- a base hit that sent one teammate home for the RBI.

Kelvyn Paulino Jr., Cal Fisher, Chase Williams and Brody Delamielleure joined the rest of the 'Noles in producing a hit.

But FSU's win also wouldn't have been made possible if it weren't for Wes Mendes on the mound.

The lefty produced 5.1 scoreless innings on the hill -- improving to 2-0 overall in the process. He surrendered one hit while striking out seven batters. He only walked one Wolverine through 89 total pitches.

Mendes didn't surrender a baserunner either until the third inning. Michigan never managed to get a hit off him until the fourth inning. Furthermore, Mendes got backed by an impressive infield and outfield -- as Michigan didn't get a runner on second base more than twice while Mendes threw heat.

Head coach Link Jarrett described the tournament as one that mirrors what baseball teams walk into at Omaha -- for the College World Series. Jarrett raved about the level of competition in the tourney starting with the Friday foe.

The Noles also continued to operate without top transfer portal addition Trey Beard, currently recovering from an illness.

FSU, though, has a major test on deck for Saturday. No. 9 Auburn is the highest ranked team in the tournament and will now face the No. 16 Seminoles. The tournament stretches into Sunday with Nebraska as the final opponent.
