Boasting a perfect fielding percentage and a record-breaking .547 average, Isa Torres dominates the diamond as she leads the Seminoles into the postseason on a triple-crown mission.
Any opponent on the Florida State softball schedule who hit a ground ball to anywhere near shortstop Isa Torres cut their run toward first base short because they knew that area of the field was a black hole for opposing hitters. Nothing got past Torres; she made sure of that, as she committed zero errors on the field during the regular season.
Combine that with an extraordinary batting average of .547, and it is no wonder that Torres was named ACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday, and earned first-team All-ACC honors. Florida State beat Boston College to win the ACC regular season championship.
This Queen of Diamonds from Georgetown, Texas put the college softball world on notice this season, collecting 87 hits, 16 home runs, 52 RBI, 17 doubles and six triples. Since her first year with Florida State (46-8, 21-3 in ACC) as a freshman All-American, Torres has increased her batting average each season.
Among her many accolades for the 2026 season, Torres set an NCAA record for hits in consecutive at-bats with 16. Against Coastal Carolina earlier this season, Torres went 6-for-6 at the plate in a 20-8 destruction of the Chanticleers.
Ever since a concussion forced Torres to the bench for eight games, she has returned with a laser focus on fundamentals and a passion to play. Torres is humble and plays not only for herself but for her teammates, coaches, and her family, especially her big sister Mariana, who is Isa’s No. 1 fan.
The ACC Tournament kicked off this week, and the Seminoles earned a first-round bye. No. 8 Florida State will face off against Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets were 13-3 winners over Notre Dame on Wednesday.
The Seminoles swept Georgia Tech earlier in the season, outscoring them 16-8 in the three-game series. Torres owned the Yellow Jackets, hitting three home runs and driving in four runs.
What more can you ask from Torres, who is also a finalist for the National Player of the Year? Make no mistake, she can give you more and will. Torres is the leader of this team and is on a mission: To take ACC Coach of the Year Lonni Alameda and her Seminole teammates to Oklahoma City and the Women’s College World Series.
But first, they have to get past Georgia Tech in the conference tournament. Torres, the biggest Yellow Jacket killer of them all, knows exactly how to do that.
