FSU isn't just hosting transfer portal visitors. But also 2027 recruits including a high-profile one who's already committed to a national power.

Florida State will open its first big recruiting weekend on Friday -- featuring high-caliber 2027 talents from the prep level. They'll pull into Tallahassee after FSU finalizes its first transfer portal class.

But a big '27 talent is expected to be in the building at FSU. One who's currently committed to a Big Ten powerhouse.

Noles247 revealed Thursday that Cameron Pritchett is among the visitors heading to FSU. Pritchett will draw eyes from Oregon during this Saturday visit, as he's currently verbally committed to the Ducks.

Pritchett, who stars for Thompson High in Alabaster, Al., became a hard commit for Oregon and head coach Dan Lanning on June 2, 2025. The edge rusher made his decision right before his junior campaign.

Now he's an incoming senior Lanning and company are trying to prevent from drifting off. Especially as Oregon has lost one notable edge rush prospect in Richard Wesley to Texas -- best known for jumping into a pool with Lanning to announce his commitment to the Ducks before flipping to the Longhorns.

Mike Norvell and his coaching staff will earn their first chance in 2026 to change the mind of Pritchett. He's delivered 15.5 sacks through three varsity seasons including six during his freshman year. Pritchett also has tallied 36 tackles for a loss, featuring 14 last season per MaxPreps.

The 6-foot-3, 231-pound Pritchett owns a state ring too, winning the Alabama Class 7A State Championship last season.

He's the only known weekend visitor who's committed to another school. But January is often the first crack for head coaches in trying to flip recruits to choose them.

Another key aspect to watch here is the Tosh Lupoi effect. Oregon lost its defensive coordinator Lupoi to the head coaching job at Cal. Pritchett chose the Ducks during a time Lupoi ran the Oregon defense. Lupoi managed to coach the Ducks defense during the playoffs but opens up the DC job in the process. Oregon not having a sitting DC presents a big opportunity for Norvell and FSU defensive coordinator Tony White to strike.

Pritchett isn't the only notable '27 talent on the FSU recruiting radar.

Pritchett also won't be the only defensive lineman visitor. Local edge rush talent Santana Harvey of Lakeland (another four-star) is lined up to be a Saturday visitor.

Defensive line rises as an immediate need for the rest of January -- following the portal entries of the Desir twins Mandrell and Darryll
