Florida State has two more days before the first January portal window closes. The Seminoles can attempt to go after this latest entry.

Florida State football has a new, intriguing talent worth pursuing before the first transfer portal window closes in 48 hours.

It just so happens this particular player knows FSU quite well -- dating back to October.

And he's a former four-star talent who fills a need the Seminoles are trying to fill.

We'll note that the portal reopens after the national title game for players on Indiana and Miami opting to enter. But here's why the newly departed Elijah Brown out of Stanford should rise as the next QB to closely monitor during the final hours of the first portal cycle:

1. Elijah Brown knows FSU well from the 2025 season

Brown took snaps behind center against the 'Noles, that's why.

He completed 6-of-12 passes for 71 yards and helped lead the Stanford upset of FSU -- forcing fans to rush the field.

Brown stepped in amid an injury and spearheaded that 20-13 win over a heavily favored FSU team. He's best known for hitting CJ Williams on a 28-yard strike that eventually set up the Cole Tabb game-winning touchdown.

Brown came in for Ben Gulbranson amid his injury and orchestrated a 94-yard drive to hand Stanford the lead.

2. Brown has ties to a FSU addition

He shares a Stanford connection with Ashton Daniels from 2024.

Daniels eventually left for Auburn. It's also not known if Daniels would make a push for FSU to pursue a former Cardinal QB teammate of his.

But to be realistic, Daniels doesn't come off as a surefire guaranteed starter here. He presents the athleticism to potentially thrive in Gus Malzahn's offense. But his overall record as a starter (5-17) and limited production doesn't evoke enthusiasm entirely.

Brown can come in and recreate QB competition with Daniels should Mike Norvell and his staff pursue. Granted, FSU was in contact with KJ Cooper of Texas Southern. But can look at a QB with Power 4 experience.

3. Brown comes from a QB factory

One truth involving college football, especially at the Power Four level: CFB coaches love Mater Dei High talent out in Santa Ana, Ca.,

Guess who starred at MD? Brown himself.

He's best known for replacing future Heisman Trophy winner and top overall pick Bryce Young for the Monarchs. Brown eventually became his own standout QB who laned 16 reported scholarship offers. Stanford under then-head coach Troy Taylor managed to win him over.

Unfortunately for Brown, he became a part of three different head coaching changes in Palo Alto. Likely causing his decision to enter the portal.

But FSU earns a big chance to keep him in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It's just a matter of switching coastlines.
