Is Florida State still in a great position to land a highly coveted wide receiver?

Florida State football stands with only one offensive verbal commit for the 2027 class.

Coach Mike Norvell and Noles talent scouts need a huge March to establish momentum on the recruiting trail. That now includes attempting to turn the tide on a four-star receiver they're targeting.

Highly coveted wideout Jamarin Simmons remains a high priority for the Seminoles, especially as a local talent out of Tallahassee. Watching Simmons drift off to another school wouldn't be a good look for the Noles, especially if they lose him to a rival.

Well, Zach Blostein of Noles247 revealed where things stand between the Noles and the talent from Amos P. Godby High.

"Florida State is working to stem the momentum of Clemson in the recruitment of four-star wide receiver Jamarin Simmons. They took an important step in that regard early this spring, getting Simmons on campus to watch one of their spring practices last week," Blostein said.

But did that visit leave a strong impression on the 5-foot-11 receiver?

"He left campus still saying the Tigers were in the lead, so it'll clearly take more than just one good visit with the Tallahassee Godby High School standout to turn the tide in his recruitment," Blostein said.

There you have it. FSU and Norvell must dig deep and generate new momentum to win over Simmons. It's one thing to lose him against another school. But fans will call out Norvell and his staff if Simmons ends up at Clemson.

So what's the next step that FSU must take in this scenario?

"Getting him back to campus again this spring would be ideal for FSU ahead of his planned official visit to FSU in June," Blostein said.

Simmons would become the first non-tight end commit for the 2027 class on the offensive side if he chooses FSU. But it looks like Norvell and the Seminoles will aim to win him over by the summer.

Simmons isn't the only prized four-star FSU is pursuing. Defensive lineman Sam LeJeune also has been on the Seminoles' radar

"The Seminoles were an early offer for the Mississippi native and haven't let up in his recruitment since -- which continues to have them in good standing," Blostein said.
