Florida State hosted a big recruiting weekend Saturday -- including attracting one dynamic talent who vows he'd be a "smooth" fit for the 'Noles.
Malachi Marshall showed up as one of the few junior college prospects to take in FSU. He got to interact with Austin Tucker (quarterbacks coach) and other members of the Florida State staff.
Marshall is a decorated All-American at the JUCO level after starring at Iowa Western Community College. He's the No. 2 ranked JC QB per 247Sports.
He surfaced on the FSU radar after some notable misses: Florida State losing out on landing D.J. Lagway plus not getting Anthony Colandrea.
However, Marshall told Noles247 that he believes he can have a seamless transition from the JUCO level to Tallahassee.
"We run the same offense at my school right now," Marshall said to Chris Nee of 247Sports. "Everything will probably be the same when I get here."
Yet what could be "different" for Marshall if he does indeed insert himself into the Florida State QB room?
"The verbiage is just a little different, so just gotta work on that, but that comes with time," Marshall said.
Overall, he believes he can adjust nicely to the power conference realm and inside the FSU football facility.
"I feel like I'll fit real smooth in this offense, it fits me as a player, they've got the playmakers for me. So everything should be good," Marshall said.
It additionally helps that he hit it off with Tucker as his potential QB coach for the next level.
"He's a great person, been really genuine through this process and that's stood out. We're going to make something happen, for sure," Marshall said.
Marshall brings the 2025 NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year award in tow to wherever his next college stop will be.
He and Tre Guerra (Tyler JC) were on the Florida State radar late during the January transfer portal period. Guerra since landed with Coastal Carolina, however.
Florida State also landed one other transfer QB in ex-Lafayette College Dean DeNobile -- who committed during the final week of the portal window.
FSU has added two QBs through this portal cycle. The first one was Ashton Daniels via Auburn, who happens to know the Atlantic Coast Conference very well as a past Stanford starting QB. Marshall could become the third QB addition should the Seminoles open up one more QB spot for the 2026 season.
