The Georgia Bulldogs are about to kick off.
The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into the regular season now exactly one week from today, and while there is some legitimate hope from the fanbase that this could be a year the Dawgs compete for a title, there are questions.
From position battles still working themselves out with game week now upon us to concern about depth of certain position groups, the biggest problems for this team are largely the same as they were headed into fall camp.
Here are the three biggest questions facing Georgia as it prepares to begin the 2026 season in one week against Tennessee State.
Which wide receiver is going to step up and emerge?
The wide receiver room may be the unit which has been under the most scrutiny of any other throughout the course of the offseason, and it's understandable why. There simply is not a whole lot of production back from last season, and it's a major question who is gonna make up for that reality.
Between Sacovie White-Helton, Talyn Taylor, CJ Wiley and others, someone needs to emerge behind entrenched starters like London Humphreys and Isiah Canion. The reports have largely not been all that positive throughout fall camp on the wide receivers, but they are also going up against one of the best secondaries in the nation at practice.
Time will tell who the guy to step up is, but the ceiling of the offense may depend on it.
Can pass rush get back to dominating level?
In 2025, the Bulldogs were not quite as effective at getting to the quarterback as they were in years past, and this is going to have to change if Georgia is going to win a national title.
The secondary is outstanding as is the linebacker room and interior defensive line, but the edge leaves a little to be desired as the Bulldogs try to get back to dominating in this area. With Gabe Harris Jr., Quintavius Johnson and Chris Cole in the fold, there's no reason why Georgia cannot take a step in this area.
How much better can Gunner Stockton get?
For good reason, Kirby Smart was very happy with the way Stockton showed up for this team last season in the brightest moments. He will have to do that again, but also take another step and ascend to be one of the best quarterbacks in the conference and continue a high level of consistency.
Part of Stockton's ability to do that will depend on the first question here, but between a great offensive line, running back room and tight end room, he should be able to take a major leap.
How big that leap actually is should go a long way towards determining what this team is capable of.
