The Georgia Bulldogs could have a lighter start to SEC play next week.
The Georgia Bulldogs are going into their second game of the season this weekend against Western Kentucky after a 60-point drubbing of FCS opponent Tennessee State this past weekend at Sanford Stadium.
Ultimately, while the Hilltoppers should present more of a test as an actual FBS team, no fan is fooling themselves into thinking this will be a close game as the Dawgs are still a more than 40-point favorite. Regardless, the question can be asked whether or not Georgia is being properly tested in its first two games of the season before hitting the road next week for their SEC opener.
Fortunately for the Dawgs though, the team they are starting the conference slate against -- the Arkansas Razorbacks in a game that will start at 11:00 a.m. local time -- do not exactly look like world beaters one game into the season.
Arkansas Looks Sluggish Against North Alabama in Week One
The Razorbacks were able to get a week one victory, but it was not exactly pretty in their first game of a new era under new head coach Ryan Silverfield. Winning by a score of just 31-14 despite going into the game as a 40-point favorite, Arkansas clearly has some work to do.
With issues along the offensive line both protecting quarterback KJ Jackson as well as being able to run the ball, the Razorbacks appear like they could be in for a long season just as many projected to be the case. It's important to note that teams can improve light years from week one to week two, and that could be the case with another huge test for Arkansas traveling out west to Utah this week.
If Saturday was an accurate representation of the Razorbacks though, they could be one of the worst teams in the SEC. Home field is the great equalizer however, and the last thing Georgia wants to be is complacent while traveling a long distance for an early kickoff game against what will likely be a loud crowd.
The late night showdown against the Utes this weekend is worth watching closely though, because if Arkansas plays how it did on Saturday against North Alabama, the Bulldogs' first SEC opponent of 2026 could be coming into the conference opener with a loss already.
Fans will be paying attention to both Georgia and the Razorbacks this weekend as both squads get ready to face off.
