The Georgia Bulldogs have a greater challenge than they have seen as of late against the Florida Gators.
The Georgia Bulldogs are on their bye week which came at a perfect time following the surprising defeat at home at the hands of the Auburn Tigers for the first time in their building in more than 20 years.
Nobody is better in these moments than Kirby Smart when it comes to coaching up his team, and that is a whole lot easier to get the message across coming off a loss. An extra week to get that message across makes it even easier on him as a coach, and with another hated rival on deck, getting his team up for the game coming off a rest week should not be a problem.
The Florida Gators will arrive to Atlanta as Georgia tries to make it six in a row against their foes from across the border, but this is not the same Florida team the Dawgs have seen in recent years, at least we don't think. The Gators at times have looked like world beating national title contenders, and in others have been completely embarrassed. Which version shows up to Mercedes-Benz Stadium could prove to determine a winner.
Georgia Needs to Prepare for Florida Relentlessly
The Gators may be the toughest team to figure out in the SEC, having performances where they dominate a team like Ole Miss -- who may be the best in the conference -- but also being completely handled by Missouri as well as South Carolina in their own home building.
None of that really matters though and the long and short of this is that Florida is without a doubt capable of beating the Bulldogs, especially coming off a bye of their own. Fresh off a shocking road victory at Texas with a backup quarterback, the Gators have the same two weeks to prepare that Georgia has, and Jon Sumrall looks like he could be a very dangerous coach in this league.
Like many teams in this league, Bulldogs included, Florida has high highs and very low lows, but Kirby Smart and Georgia know what this team is capable of on a good day and will go about the preparation that way.
The Dawgs absolutely despise the Gators, and with fresh bodies and fresh minds coming out of the bye week, they are going to have to play like it as well. Time will tell who proves the winner in this hated rivalry showdown, but Georgia wants this one badly and needs to play like it.
