The Georgia Bulldogs are set for their biggest game yet.
The Georgia Bulldogs are 5-0 and all is well in Athens right now as the team continues to hit its stride after another victory over Vanderbilt where they were able to pull away in the second half and avoid a down to the wire finish.
This week though, it's an entirely new challenge for Kirby Smart and this team as they prepare for their biggest regular season game on the schedule, heading into Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. After entering the season somewhat under the radar by their standards, Alabama has certainly looked the part through five games of a team capable of competing for a national title and someone Georgia will have to deal with to accomplish its own goals.
Smart is going to have his hands full with young Crimson Tide quarterback Keelon Russell, who is beginning to get some Heisman hype after another strong performance against Mississippi State, but with Gunner Stockton also seemingly hitting his stride, this is a great battle ahead.
With no wins in Bryant-Denny Stadium in almost 20 years, the Dawgs are going to be hungry to change that this week.
Alabama, Georgia Could Be Matchup of Two Real National Title Threats
While the Dawgs have quietly gone about their business and dominated everyone they have faced, the Tide is a team who seems to be the hot topic around the country led by a dynamic young quarterback in Russell.
Alabama may very well be a year ahead of schedule in their process of ascending to contenders, but this is a chance for Georgia to change history and earn a victory which would potentially make a statement that they are the best team in the country right now.
The Dawgs have had their struggles with Alabama under Smart both before and after the retirement of Nick Saban and have not beaten them in the regular season since 2007, but history does not matter in this matchup.
Georgia is ready for their first real test of the season, and the rest of the country is ready to watch two excellent teams face off and be able to see who establish who the team to beat in the SEC is right now. It should be a tremendous night of college football, and Dawgs nation is hopeful things are going to end differently this time around than they have as of late.
