Kirby Smart Provides Little Update on Two Injured Georgia Bulldogs Stars

The Georgia Bulldogs will have to wait and see if these two players are available.

The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into a huge game this weekend against their most hated rival, taking on the Florida Gators in Atlanta as they try to make it six in a row in this iconic game.

While things look a little bit different this year away from Jacksonville, the level of hatred is still the same, and the stakes may be higher than they have been in some time for both teams. First year head coach Jon Sumrall has shown some serious flashes as the leader of the Gators, and while this team does have two dreadful losses, they have also looked like world beaters at times as well.

If the Bulldogs are going to handle Florida, they are going to need to be at full strength. When asked about the status of two injured players on Monday, Kirby Smart did not provide a whole lot of information ahead of this stretch run.

Smart Says He Does Not Know if KJ Bolden, Isiah Canion Will Play vs. Florida

"Yeah I really don't know on either one of them because we haven't done anything since Thursday," Smart said when asked how much closer both Bolden and Canion were to being back on the field. "We had good practices all week last week and leading into this week we'll find out more about where they are today and through the injury report information we have."

This seems like code from Smart that we will have more information with the release of the Wednesday night availability report, but until that point, don't count on him giving away any other pieces of information more than is required by league rules.

Bolden obviously is a key piece in the secondary and one of the best safeties in all of college football, so Georgia fans are very familiar with the impact he has on this defense. As for Canion though, he has battled through numerous injuries since transferring from Georgia Tech and has yet to really be able to contribute to this offense.

Getting one or both back here for the stretch run could provide some wonderful boosts to both sides of the ball as well as improve the depth at some very important spots. Wednesday night should reveal some more than Smart did, but it would not be a surprise to see both players listed as questionable, which means fans would not know until Saturday.

Canion and Bolden could be the difference makers this team needs to impose their will on the rest of the SEC, but it will be at least another couple of days until the Dawgs reveal the true status of both.
