Kansas State Wildcats coach Collin Klein is in a rare position.
He actually gets to coach where he played in college. He is set to make his college debut Sept 5. against Nicholls at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. It is the same venue where he had a legendary career as the starting quarterback in the early 2010s.
After nearly nine months on the job, Klein is still in awe of this opportunity.
"This place is home," Klein said. "This is family, and we bleed purple from top to bottom. I mean, just being able to grow and do what we did the last two years to have an opportunity like this. To be able to come back home and carry on the legacy of our program that goes back a long time. I still have to pinch myself sometimes because it is so special."
The Wildcats are projected to finish eighth in the Big 12, but a favorable schedule could mean otherwise.
THE LATEST ON THE LEFT TACKLE POSITION
The left tackle position is among the biggest concerns for the Kansas State Wildcats football team.
The offensive line took a serious blow when it was announced John Pastore and George Fitzpatrick were ruled out for the season. Pastore sustained a lower leg injury during training camp while Fitzpatrick continues to deal with a medical emergency that kept him out all of last season as well.
Klein offered an update on the position while speaking to fans at Cat Chat. Here's what he had to say about the left tackle slot: "I'm really excited to see who steps up. I think it'll be a bit by committee, especially early, as we continue to gel, even as we start playing games."
