These four LSU Tigers stars need to see the field against the Texas A&M Aggies.
The LSU Tigers lost their first game of the year last week, which means that there should be changes coming to the game plan. Lane Kiffin has already stated that there will be some movement across the offensive line, but there are other changes that could come as well.
Here are four players who should see the field a bit more often against the Texas A&M Aggies this weekend:
RT Sean Thompkins Jr.
Pretty much the entire offensive line has struggled at times, but the right tackle spot has plagued them in both past seasons. Thompkins hasn't been perfect in his career before transferring, but he has at least shown some flashes.
In three of his four starts for the Baylor Bears, he allowed two or fewer pressures. Between the other two, though, he allowed 11. That was against the UCF Golden Knights and the Utah Utes. They should at least try him out.
WR Jayce Brown
Brown was a very exciting player when they brought in from the Kansas State Wildcats. He had 88 catches for 1,535 yards and 10 scores over the past two seasons. Through three games with the Tigers, he has just four catches for 37 yards. Winnie Watkins Jr. has taken the lead in the slot, which is where Brown has the most experience, but it feels like they haven't done a good job of getting Brown involved on the outside. No matter how it happens, he's too good an athlete to not design some touches for.
TE Malachi Thomas
Well, this one is going to happen out of necessity because of the Trey'Dez Green injury, but Thomas is someone who could help make that blow feel a bit less devastating. He didn't get too involved in the offense with the Pitt Panthers, but he has a higher athletic ceiling with a basketball background similar to Green. He may not be 6-foot-7, but he may be more prepared than Zach Grace to be a receiving option.
G Devin Harper
Harper began the year as a backup with the hope of developing into a starter for next year, but they may need him now. Left guard has been a weak spot for LSU, but that is one of the two offensive line positions where he hasn't seen action yet. Harper is also someone who could be an option at right tackle as well, as that is where he played the most last year for the Ole Miss Rebels.
