The LSU Tigers took care of business against the Auburn Tigers

The LSU Tigers finally curbed their road woes in a major way, beating down on the Auburn Tigers en route to a 38-10 win. This was their first victory away from home since the opener last year and it was their first road victory against an SEC team since October 2024.

Lane Kiffin and his Tigers will improve to 6-2 on the year and are now above .500 in conference play at 3-2. Every game is a must-win now if they want to keep their postseason hopes alive. Now they will return home for a bye week, hoping to get fully healthy for their matchup with the Alabama Crimson Tide to kick off November.

Sam Leavitt is someone who could use the bye, as he has reportedly been dealing with some hamstring issues. Whatever issues he has didn't hamper him in this game, as he was fantastic. Leavitt was 32-of-45 through the air for 387 yards and three touchdowns. He added eight rushes for 54 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

While he did have one bad throw that was picked off, it was called back and he was lights out for the rest of the game. This was now his second-straight game without an official turnover after logging interceptions in every matchup prior to the last two.

Speaking of getting healthy, Trey'Dez Green was back in the lineup and made an immediate impact. He had five catches for 50 yards and a score. This offense is more than happy to have him back in there.

LSU has also enjoyed the offensive breakout of wide receiver Jackson Harris this season. This was another fantastic game from him, putting up nine catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns. He took one catch for 70 yards to the house. It has become clear that he is the top target out wide on this team.

As impressive as the offense was, it was an equally impressive performance from the first team defense. Byrum Brown can change games, but Blake Baker's squad held him in check with just 21 yards over 19 carries. He had one or two nice runs, but was shut down the rest of the game.

The Bayou Bengals' pass rush was utterly dominant with seven sacks in this game. Jordan Ross had another two-sack day. Five-star freshman Lamar Brown had the first sack of his career.

This was the best-case scenario for the Tigers. They head into the bye week with a ton of confidence rebuilt after two elite performances against SEC schools. The games don't get any easier when they came back from the bye, but they should feel that they can compete in any of them.
