Early rankings spotlight the LSU Tigers' future NFL stars, including a top tackle and a highly touted quarterback, poised for success in the 2027 draft.
The LSU Tigers had one player taken in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft with the Kansas City Chiefs trading up for cornerback Mansoor Delane. If there is just one Tiger in the first round next year, it would be a little surprising.
Lane Kiffin wasted no time showing off how much LSU is investing in their football team as they went big buck hunting in his first offense in control of the team. They added a bunch of high profile players, a few of whom are expected to be first round picks next season.
CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer recently took an early look at next year's draft class to rank the Top 32 players in the class, showing off who should hear their name called this time in 2027. Here's where the Tigers landed:
LT Jordan Seaton - No. 4
Seaton is someone who has been expected to be an early NFL draft pick since high school, when he was one of the most highly-touted players in the country. Seaton is a superb athlete, who will be surrounded with more help on the line than he was with the Colorado Buffaloes.
As things stand, he's still a fantastic athlete and has proven to be a good pass blocker so far in college. He has some room to grow in the run game and some strength to add, but if he plays to expectations he will hear his name called early.
S Ty Benefield - No. 22
Benefield was one of the first additions that Kiffin and co. made, and has sort of been overlooked by some of the other big swings that the school took. The former Boise State Bronco is a fantastic safety, and could be the first safety taken in this draft. Only Georgia Bulldogs safety KJ Bolden is ranked ahead of him.
Over three years, Benefield has made impacts in every facet as a defensive back. Similar to AJ Haulcy and Mansoor Delane, one year of doing what he's always done, but in purple and gold could be all he needs to go early.
QB Sam Leavitt - No. 27
Leavitt needs Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. as much as they need him. The quarterback clearly has NFL talent, but some of it still needs to be unlocked. He had a great redshirt freshman season when he had a run game headlined by Cam Skattebo, but regressed and dealt with injury last season.
The wide receiver room is a bit of an unknown with just how many transfers they added, but Tigers should provide Leavitt with more talent than he had to work with last season. If he can develop his arm talent in this final season to go along with his plus-skill as a runner, he should absolutely be a first round pick.
