Memphis continues to focus on the class of 2027, and Charles Huff and his staff are getting ready for a busy summer. On June 1, the Tigers hosed their “Memphis Mega Camp”, hosting multiple players from around the country and coaches from more than 30 schools.
Over the next few weeks, Huff and his staff will host multiple players on official visits as they look to build the class of 2027. Currently, Memphis has only one commit in the 2027 class, quarterback Ethan Tisdale, but they should add more over the next few months.
After looking at most of the prospects the Tigers have offered, it’s time to look at the safeties Memphis is targeting.
Kennedy Green (Douglasville, GA)
Green is a four-star recruit and the No. 24 safety in the class. He holds 41 offers, and the previous staff offered him last year. Before he picked up an offer from the Tigers, Huff’s staff offered him at Southern Miss.
Green has scheduled four official visits with South Carolina, Purdue, Mississippi State and Nebraska, and it will be interesting to see if he schedules a fifth visit. The safety recorded 56 tackles, two interceptions and a pass deflection as a junior at Douglas County.
James Roberson (Allen, TX)
Roberson is a three-star recruit and the No. 79 player at his position in the class. Memphis offered the safety in February, and he holds 35 offers.
The safety has four visits set with Mississippi State, Wisconsin, TCU and UCF. As a junior, he recorded 60 tackles, six pass breakups, three tackles for loss and two interceptions, while helping lead Allen High School to a 14-1 record.
Prentice Mackyeon Jr. (New Orleans, LA)
The Tigers offered Mackyeon in late March, and he was on campus for an unofficial visit in early April. The safety is a three-star and the No. 94 safety in the class.
“@CoachHuff (Charles Huff) one of the realest,” Mackyeon said in an X post following his unofficial visit. “Our conversation answered all of my questions.”
Nearly a month later, defensive backs coach Tim Duffie visited the safety in New Orleans. He holds 17 offers, including a pair from Power Four schools, and it appears he has scheduled one official visit with Louisiana.
As a junior, Mackyeon recorded 47 tackles, three tackles for loss, six interceptions and eight pass deflections for John Curtis High School.
Seth Williams (Atlanta, GA)
Williams is a three-star recruit and the No. 124 player at his position, and he holds 53 offers. Memphis offered him in January, but it looks like Williams will be tough to land.
It appears he has scheduled eight official visits all with P4 programs. As a junior, the safety recorded 73 tackles, five tackles for loss, five pass deflections, a forced fumble and two interceptions for Lakeside High School.
Jackson Heath (Cornelius, NC)
The Tigers offered Heath in March, and he holds 15 offers, according to his X account. The safety isn’t ranked by 247Sports. 10 of the offers are from FBS programs, including five from teams in the American.
Heath recorded 67 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks and an interception in 10 games during his junior season at Hough High School.
Jaiziah Battle (Orlando, FL)
Battle holds 15 offers, and the Tigers offered him on April 28. The safety isn’t ranked by either 247Sports or On3, but he holds offers from five team in the American.
According to MaxPreps, Battle recorded 30 tackles, nine pass deflections and two interceptions for Bartow High School. He will play for The First Academy during his senior season.
Tyler Bush (Fort Worth, TX)
Bush isn’t ranked by 247Sports, and he holds six offers, according to the recruiting site. Memphis offered him in early January.
Bush took several unofficial visits in the spring, but it doesn’t appear he has scheduled any official visits for the summer yet. According to MaxPreps, he recorded 11 tackles in five games last year at Forney High School.
He will play at North Crowley during his senior season.
