The Miami Hurricanes are igniting the recruiting trail, flipping elite talent from SEC powerhouses while eyeing Ohio State commit DJ Jacobs to cement a historic, top-ranked class.
Miami, Fla. – In the past week, the Miami Hurricanes have been scorching through the high school recruiting trail. After landing commitments from a couple of four-star recruits, such as Noah Glover (linebacker) and Ezekiel Ayangbile (defensive tackle), the program pulled off a significant stunt by flipping five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant away from LSU. Following the news, he shut down recruiting and cancelled all official visits.
Coach Mario Cristobal and the staff are assembling one of the best groups in program history. The Hurricanes currently have four five-stars and nine four-stars, including five three-stars for the 2027 class, which ranks third nationally, according to 247Sports Composite. Given the recent momentum, there are still other recruits–committed or uncommitted–that could find a way to Coral Gables.
Along with joining the official visit on campus this past Friday, May 29, was five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson. The Tampa native currently attends Jesuit High School, an all-male Catholic college preparatory institution located in Hillsborough County. In three seasons, Henderson logged 219 total tackles, 136 solos and 83 assists, 29 tackles for loss, nine sacks, 29 hurries, and three interceptions in 34 games, according to MaxPreps.
During Friday’s official visit, Henderson did a photo shoot with defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Corey Hetherman–a potential glimpse of the foreseeable future.
Before Bryant, the Hurricanes managed to flip a couple of recruits: five-star cornerback Donte Wright (previously with Georgia) and four-star cornerback Ai’King Hall (previously with Oregon). Given the latest momentum, another target might be on the program’s radar.
Five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Dec 29, 2025. He currently attends Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia. In three seasons, Jacobs recorded 292 total tackles, 156 solos and 136 assists, 67 tackles for loss, and 31 sacks in 36 games, according to MaxPreps.
The Hurricanes could be looking to pair one five-star edge rusher with another. Despite committing to Ohio State, Jacobs has not shut down recruiting. He made unofficial visits to the Coral Gables campus last year in August and September. Jacobs is ranked fourth nationally, the best edge rusher and player in the state of Georgia, according to 247Sports Composite.
Flipping three highly ranked recruits puts the program in a position to lure others. Plus, Hurricanes commit and five-star wide receiver Nick Lennear officially shut down all recruiting on the same night Bryant flipped. The future continues to shine brighter in Coral Gables.
