The Miami Hurricanes race Notre Dame and Georgia for elite tight end Jaxon Dollar's commitment, a versatile athlete set to decide Thursday.

The Miami Hurricanes' spring football ended on Saturday, April 18, but they are looking to regain lost ground on the high school recruiting trail. The program recently missed out on a couple of highly-touted prospects, such as running back Myson Johnson-Cook and safety Zayden Gamble. Regardless, the Hurricanes will have another opportunity as another recruit is closing in on a decision.

It was reported that Jaxon Dollar will announce an official commitment on Thursday, April 30. Three programs were named as finalists: Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Georgia Bulldogs, and Hurricanes. He’s a four-star tight end who currently attends East Lincoln High School, a public institution located in Denver, North Carolina.

Dollar has shown tremendous versatility, playing on both sides of the field. Offensively, he caught 67 passes for 1,414 yards, scoring 26 touchdowns in 22 games over two seasons as a sophomore and junior. Meanwhile, playing at defensive end and outside linebacker, the four-star recruit recorded 70 total tackles, 35 solos and 35 assists, 14 tackles for loss, eight sacks, seven hurries, and seven passes defended.

Similar to most high school tight ends, Dollar has a background playing basketball. On the court, he averaged 13.5 points on 54 percent shooting, 34 percent from behind the arc, 7.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 82 games over three seasons, from freshman to junior year.

Dollar is listed at 6-5, 222 pounds, and ranked 34th nationally, second among tight ends, and second in the state of North Carolina for the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, North Carolina State Wolfpack, South Carolina Gamecocks, Texas A&M Aggies, Ole Miss Rebels, Louisville Cardinals, SMU Mustangs, and Virginia Tech Hokies, along with others.

According to Rivals, Dollar made one unofficial visit around the Coral Gables, Florida, campus and facility on Sept. 20, 2025. It was the same day when the Hurricanes hosted the Gators and dominated in a 26-7 outing at Hard Rock Stadium.

However, the highly-touted recruit made three unofficial visits with Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

The Hurricanes hired a new tight ends coach in Mike Viti, who spent the previous 10 seasons with the Army Black Knights, most recently as an associate head coach/offensive line coach.

Dollar has an opportunity to join a recruiting group that consists of four-star wide receiver Nick Lennear, four-star offensive tackle Sean Tatum, and four-star quarterback Israel Abrams.

The program is on a commitment standby on Thursday.
