Houston standout Ezekiel Ayangbile nears a May 8 decision, choosing between LSU, Virginia Tech, and a Miami Hurricanes program offering the chance to develop under legend Jason Taylor.
Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes picked back up on the high school recruiting trail after securing four-star running back Ty Keys’ commitment for the 2027 class. However, there was still a hill to climb before returning to the top-10 rankings. An opportunity arises as another prospect is about to announce a big decision.
It was reported that four-star defensive lineman Ezekiel Ayangbile has a commitment date set for Friday, May 8. There are three programs on the brink of crossing the finish line: LSU Tigers, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Hurricanes.
All of these schools are in the same boat for a reason,” he told Rivals.
Ayangbile currently attends Langham Creek High School, a public institution located in Houston, Texas. After two seasons as a sophomore and junior, he recorded 90 total tackles, 42 solos and 48 assists, 15 tackles for loss, six sacks, and nine hurries in 17 total games.
The highly-touted recruit is listed at 6-2, 260 pounds, and ranked 179th nationally, 21st among defensive linemen, and 25th in the state of Texas, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He has received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Texas Longhorns, SMU Mustangs, Houston Cougars, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ole Miss Rebels, among several others.
Despite having multiple opportunities to stay close to home, Ayangbile appears ready for a new chapter elsewhere.
The Texas native took an unofficial visit with the Hurricanes on April 4 during spring practices.
There are family ties to the Hokies: Duane Brow, father, played at tight end as a freshman, then switched to offensive lineman for the next three seasons from 2004 to 2007. He was the No. 26 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, playing 16 years, and was a five-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro. Ayangbile’s mother, Ciera Aynagbile, ran track and field for the program.
Regardless of family history, the Hurricanes developed two defensive linemen into NFL first-round selections in the 2026 Draft: All-American Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor. Ayangbile has an opportunity to develop under defensive line coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, who played a critical role in both stars’ development. The program currently has a couple of more projected first-rounders on the roster: edge rusher Damon Wilson II and interior defensive lineman Ahmad Moten Sr.
Ayangbile will have five days to evaluate all options before announcing a final decision.
