A couple of key departures shake the Miami Hurricanes' highly-ranked 2027 class, but elite prospects and a championship glow offer hope for rebuilding.

The Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class has been on pace to finish among the top 10 in the nation. However, a couple of departures could change things in the upcoming months. It was reported that the program parted ways with three-star offensive lineman Zaquan Linton and four-star wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens. Both players will seek new homes elsewhere as business reopens.

Stevens is listed at six feet, 175 pounds, and ranked 334th nationally, 42nd among wide receivers, and 32nd in the state of Florida for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He’s from Hollywood in Broward County and currently attends Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory. As a junior, the four-star prospect caught 23 passes for 312 yards, scoring a touchdown in nine games.

Shortly after parting ways with the Hurricanes, Stevens committed to the LSU Tigers. He received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, South Florida Bulls, Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, North Carolina State Wolfpack, and Tulane Green Wave, along with others.

Stevens is just the third commit for the Tigers’ 2027 recruiting class, along with four-star edge rusher Jaidan Bryant and four-star quarterback Peyton Houston.

Linton is listed at 6-6, 300 pounds, and ranked 1,152nd nationally, 91st among offensive tackles, but can play guard as well, and 129th in the state of Florida for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He’s from Wellington in Palm Beach County and attends Palm Beach Central High School. Linton was primarily recruited by offensive line coach Alex Mirabal.

Despite not immediately finding a new home, unlike Stevens, the three-star prospect received interest and offers from the Florida Gators, South Florida Bulls, Louisville Cardinals, Missouri Tigers, Syracuse Orange, and Virginia Tech Hokies, along with others.

The Hurricanes earned hard commitments from four-star offensive lineman Sean Tatum and three-star Tyler Ford as part of the 2027 group. Also, the program is in the running for elite five-star Mark Matthews, who took a visit around the Coral Gables campus and facility on Thursday, April 2.

Despite losing a couple of homegrown talents, the Hurricanes remain on pace to finish with a top-10 2027 recruiting group.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the program’s image has completely turned around. They will have opportunities to land other elite prospects and make up the lost ground, especially if Matthews decides to join and stay close to home.
