The Auburn Tigers secured a major target as Alex Golesh secured his third top-100 commit.

The Auburn Tigers are booming under new head coach Alex Golesh as they look to bolster their future recruiting classes. The latest commit is four-star offensive tackle Layton von Brandt, who chose the Tigers over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Florida Gators, and Penn State Nittany Lions. It marks the third top 100 commit for Golesh, as von Brandt is ESPN’s No. 6 tackle prospect in the 2027 class and No. 40 in SC Next 300.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound prospect is a multiyear starter for Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, Delaware. Von Brandt is the highest-rated recruit in the state’s history since 2006 and the first top 300 prospect since quarterback Braden Davis, who signed with South Carolina in 2022. It’s another late win for Golesh, with not just three top 100 commits, but also four SC Next pledges. He was able to beat the Miami Hurricanes for four-star running back Myson Johnson last month. That pattern continued with von Brandt, who originally committed to Penn State in Nov. 2024, but decommitted after they fired James Franklin.

To read more about the major target that Golesh landed, here is the full story from Auburn Roundtable writer Christian Rauh.

After spring visits to multiple programs, including Auburn, the Tigers won out with a key relationship that formed with offensive line coach Tyler Hudanick, who ESPN reports called von Brandt weekly to build the connection past the football field. The blue chip prospect sets the tone for a strong era under Golesh and their ability to compete and recruit on a national stage.
