The Clemson Tigers hired from the NFL ranks and are bringing this former Packers special teams coach to headline their unit.

The Clemson Tigers and head coach Dabo Swinney are committed to making changes after a disappointing season that fell short of expectations of making – and contending in – the College Football Playoff. In addition to their new offensive coordinator, Chad Morris, the Tigers will have a new special teams coordinator next season. The team announced that they are hiring former Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia to coach that same role in Clemson. Bisaccia will return back to the Tigers, as he coached running backs and special teams from 1994-1998. He most recently was with the Packers, but the team announced on Feb. 17 that he was stepping down after four seasons at the role, which was a semi-surprising and mysterious exit.

Bisaccia joined Matt LaFleur's staff in Green Bay after serving as the interim head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, where he guided them to a 7-6 record and a playoff berth. He was ultimately passed over for the permanent role. He also became the Packers’ assistant head coach in 2023. He has extensive special teams coordinator experience, working with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002 to 2010, Los Angeles Chargers from 2011 to 2012, Dallas Cowboys from 2013 to 2017, and Raiders from 2018 to 2021.

Here is the full story from Clemson Roundtable writer Ben Cooper on the new hire and what it signifies for the team looking to bounce back in their 2026 campaign.

Bisaccia, before joining the NFL – where he remained from 2002 until 2025 – had several years of coaching in the college ranks, including Wayne State, South Carolina, and Ole Miss, his last stop before joining the Bucs. He takes over for new Samford assistant coach Will Gilchrist.
