The quarterback position got a major boost for the Florida Gators with a massive target from the class of 2027.

The Florida Gators haven’t had a strong situation at quarterback for some time now. That stands to change under new head coach Jon Sumrall. There are still some questions about 2026, with Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones Jr. competing for the starting job. But the future is bright. Four-star quarterback Davin Davidson committed to the Gators, choosing Florida over Georgia, Kentucky and Auburn. The signal caller has real upside with pro measurables, as Davidson stands at 6-foot-6, 215 pounds.

The Sarasota native completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 2,360 yards and 23 touchdowns to just six interceptions in his junior season at Cardinal Mooney High School. He’s the No. 13 signal caller in his class. While not exactly a typical dual threat, he possesses the athleticism to make plays and extend them with his legs while boasting considerable arm talent. The team made a play for Davidson with an offer in January, but he had to choose between a whopping 32 offers. It’s a major recruiting pickup for Sumrall and quarterbacks coach Joe Craddock who came over with him from the Tulane Green Wave. Craddock looks for a love of the game and a toughness that matches that of the head coach. They look to have hopefully found that in Davidson.

Here is the full story from Gators Roundtable writer Matthew Schmidt on the major pickup and how it impacts the room in the future.

Davidson is now the fifth commit for Florida’s class of 2027. His commitment came on day after five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller chose the program. It’s a strong start for Sumrall in his first few months in Florida.
