Early Betting Odds Give UConn Fighting Chance vs. UNC
Nov 2, 2026 12:00 PM

Oddsmakers have slashed the spread as the surging Huskies host a reeling Tar Heels squad.

The independent UConn Huskies are 4-4 and get to host North Carolina, James Madison, and Old Dominion in their next three games.

The most favorable part of UConn's schedule begins with a showdown against Bill Belichick's Tar Heels, though UNC is no stranger to winning on the road this season.

Of their four wins, two are true road games, and the other was in Dublin, Ireland, against TCU in Week 0.

UNC just took the No. 1 team in the nation to their limit, and the Miami Hurricanes just escaped Chapel Hill with a 38-35 victory.

Coming out on the losing end really stung for the Tar Heels as they hung in there for all 60 minutes, but in the end, they've dropped back-to-back games and aren't given a ton of wiggle room against UConn in Week 10.

UNC only listed as 7.5-point favorites

According to DraftKings, the Tar Heels are just over touchdown favorites going into this one.

The spread opened at 8.5 points, but then went down to 7.5 shortly after.

The over-under for this game is set at 52.5 points, and it's interesting that it increased by a point, unlike the spread, which went down. For reference, the over-under opened at 51.5 points.

UNC is a -298 favorite, meaning a $298 bet is necessary to win $100 in return. As for the Huskies, they are currently +240, and while that's always subject to change, a bettor could win $240 on a $100 bet, should the Huskies prevail.

When looking at the Tar Heels' four wins this season, they took down TCU by five, East Tennessee State by 32, and then both Pittsburgh and Duke by four.

The only team truly not at their level was East Tennessee State, so that blowout was well-justified.

It's not like TCU or Duke are top teams in their respective conferences, but they're still in a different conversation than the Huskies.

UConn is coming off a nine-point loss at Air Force. Prior to that, they took down Temple and UMass, winning both of those games by double digits.

All of the Huskies' wins have been blowouts this season, and their worst loss was when they hosted Maryland on Sept. 12, 38-14.

Knowing the Terrapins are 2-6 overall and 0-5 in Big Ten play, that's a loss that really puts things into perspective when looking at the Huskies.

UConn is indeed the home team, though, so that always impacts the spread despite what UNC's road record looks like this season.
