Miami Opens as 15-Plus Point Favorites vs. UNC
Oct 25, 2026 8:00 PM

Fresh off a crushing overtime loss, Bill Belichick’s Tar Heels face a daunting climb as the top-ranked Hurricanes come to town.

It should come as absolutely no surprise that the North Carolina Tar Heels are basically three-score underdogs against the Miami Hurricanes.

This is the top-ranked team in the nation for a reason, and they recently learned they'd be able to enjoy a second straight week as No. 1 in the AP Top 25.

Miami took care of business against Pittsburgh, and now they get to face a vulnerable UNC team that just dropped an extremely winnable game against Syracuse.

UNC looked great to start the game, but a few defensive blunders got the Orange back into it as they prevailed in overtime.

Now, could this be a trap game for the Hurricanes? Sure, there's always that possibility, but with what everyone has seen on the field these past few weeks, it's going to take a miraculous performance for Bill Belichick to pull off the upset.

Miami is 15.5-point favorites

According to DraftKings, Miami opened as 14.5-point favorites, and the spread quickly shifted to 15.5 points.

It'll be interesting to see how lopsided the spread gets by the time of kickoff, but for now, it's still basically a three-score deficit for UNC going into this one.

A 16-point difference would mean the Tar Heels have to score a pair of touchdowns with made two-point conversions, and the last thing they want to be thinking about right now is a two-point attempt, knowing that's what got the best of them in Week 8.

Other notable betting lines include the money line, which sees Miami as a -750 favorite. If someone wanted to win $100 on the Hurricanes, that means they'd have to bet $750 to net $100 in return.

On the other side, UNC is currently +525, so a $100 bet would net a return of $525.

Putting triple digits on UNC feels a bit irresponsible, to say the least, but there have been a ton of upsets in college football this season, so the last thing Miami can do is look past UNC.

If anything, the loss should motivate the Tar Heels more than ever. There's a very real possibility they were already looking past the Orange, and that's something that can never be done in the world of collegiate and professional sports.

Belichick would likely tell you otherwise, but at the end of the day, UNC put themselves in a horrendous position going into this game, but the silver lining is they don't have to go to Hard Rock Stadium.
