The Tennessee Titans are rewarding left guard Peter Skoronski with a big-time extension after his best season yet.
On July 27, 2025, former Northwestern offensive lineman Rashawn Slater signed a record-breaking contract extension with the Los Angeles Chargers that made him the highest-paid tackle in NFL history. Just over a year later, Slater's successor in Evanston has reset the market at guard.
Tennessee Titans left guard Peter Skoronski agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract extension on Friday afternoon, with $88 million guaranteed, to stay in Nashville. The deal makes him the highest-paid guard in NFL history, surpassing Cowboys Pro-Bowler Tyler Smith.
Skoronski is entering his fourth season with the Titans, who picked up his fifth-year option in April. He has steadily risen to one of the best offensive linemen in the league since Tennessee selected him with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Park Ridge, Ill., native started 14 games as a rookie and has started all 17 games in each of the past two seasons.
He was initially slated to make $19.07 million on his fifth-year option, but will now be paid $25 million annually, starting in 2027.
According to Pro Football Focus, Skoronski's overall grade of 79.0 ranked fifth among NFL guards last season. His 84.5 pass-blocking grade trailed only Chicago Bears veteran Joe Thuney, while his 73.2 run-blocking grade was the 11th-best. Skoronski gave up just two sacks while protecting No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward in 2025.

He chose Northwestern over Michigan, Notre Dame and Penn State, becoming the top player in Northwestern's class.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck and delayed the 2020 college football season, Slater decided to opt out of his senior year and prepare for the ensuing NFL Draft, in which he would eventually be picked No. 13 overall. That created an opportunity for Skoronski to start as Northwestern's left tackle as a true freshman.
He started all nine games in a shortened 2020 season, then earned First Team All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore in 12 starts. Skoronski became Northwestern's first unanimous First Team All-American during his junior season, his final with the Wildcats. He was also named the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year, the first-ever winner for the Wildcats.
With the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Titans made Skoronski Northwestern's highest-drafted player since fellow lineman Chris Hinton (No. 4) in 1983. He moved from left tackle to left guard upon joining the team.
