The Arizona Cardinals are again being urged to trade former Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr. this season.
Former Ohio State Buckeyes star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. had a lot of hype and expectations coming into the NFL years ago.
So, when the wideout was drafted No. 4 overall by the Arizona Cardinals, the move was met with all sorts of excitement. After all, Harrison was one of the better wide receivers to come through Ohio State in recent memory, and the team saw all sorts of success with him on the roster.
Harrison put up two straight seasons with over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns, showing dominance out on the field. The Buckeyes believed that he would be next in line to add to the "Wide Receiver U" narrative that the program has tried to build for itself.
But so far, Harrison's NFL career with the Cardinals has been extremely inconsistent. After a solid rookie season that saw him put up 885 yards and eight touchdowns on 62 catches, he hasn't been able to replicate anything.
Over the last two years, Harrison has struggled to fit into the Arizona offense, looking lost on the field at times. This has led to trade rumors around the former Ohio State star, and everything seems to be coming to a head this year.
While the Cardinals have reportedly not been actively shopping Harrison, opposing teams have been watching the situation closely. And now, NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report has urged Arizona to just move on from the former top draft pick.
Harrison could benefit from a change of scenery, and if he went to a team with a strong offensive structure, maybe he could reach his ceiling. The star wideout has a lot of talent left in the tank, but he needs to make it happen elsewhere.
The former Buckeyes star has clearly fallen down the depth chart with the Cardinals, and this hasn't done him any good. Arizona could also benefit from moving him, getting some future assets for a former top pick that just hasn't worked out well.
Overall, the two sides just need a clean break from one another, and it could be happening as soon as a few weeks. With the trade deadline coming up in the NFL, the Cardinals mat elect to pull the trigger, especially with an entirely new coaching staff now in place.
If Harrison is moved, the Ohio State fan base will watch his career closely wherever he goes. Harrison was loved with the Buckeyes, even if his NFL tenure hasn't worked out so far.
