Former Ohio State star Marvin Harrison Jr. was traded to the Houston Texans this weekend.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have seen plenty of star talent come through the football program over the years.

A lot of this has been in the wide receiving room, with the school producing all sorts of special players at the next level. But sometimes, even when players look like perfect NFL players, something doesn't work out.

One of the more recent examples of this comes from former Ohio State star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who was drafted No. 4 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2024 NFL Draft. Harrison did well at Ohio State, with the wideout looking like the next breakout star in the league.

With the Buckeyes, Harrison put up two straight seasons with over 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns. But since he entered the NFL, he hasn't been able to duplicate the production from college.

Harrison had a strong rookie year in Arizona, putting up 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. However, his numbers have fallen since, leading to the Cardinals to trade him.

Arizona traded Harrison to the Houston Texans, giving him a chance to re-establish himself in the NFL. Harrison desperately needed a change of scenery, and now he will have the opportunity to show that he isn't a bust.

But now that Harrison is with the Texans, the big question is how he will fare with the team. Harrison is still only 24 years old, giving him a realistic chance to finally show what he can do in the NFL.

Playing for the Cardinals, Harrison didn't have the most steady quarterback play, which contributed to his struggles. But now with the Texans, Harrison will be playing with quarterback C.J. Stroud, reuniting the two players from their time at Ohio State.

This could help the star wide receiver get it together in the league, with the two players having strong chemistry from their time in college. Harrison could see his numbers jump up playing with Stroud, and he offers this Texans team more offensive firepower.

Playing alongside Nico Collins should help him, with defenses looking to double-team the star wide receiver, giving Harrison more lanes to use. Harrison can help spread the field while giving Stroud a trustworthy option to throw the ball to.

Overall, Houston was one of the strongest landing spots that Harrison could have gone to, and if he can't find success with Stroud, his time in the NFL could be over in short order. The former Buckeyes duo will now have the full attention of the Ohio State faithful, with fans tuning in to see how they fare the rest of the season.
