The Houston-area standout reunites with his brother in Norman, bolstering the Sooners’ top-ranked 2027 class while choosing crimson and cream over rival offers from Texas and Arkansas

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up another piece of the puzzle for the 2027 class as three-star cornerback Trenton Blaylock announced his commitment.

The Humble Atascocita High School standout from the Houston area told Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that he’s coming to Norman. Fawcett posted a quote from Blaylock saying: “Sooner Nation I’m finally home let’s work!”

This one makes a lot of sense.

Trenton is the younger brother of current Oklahoma running back Tory Blaylock. Family connections like this often carry extra weight, and Tory’s presence on the roster clearly helped pull his little brother into the fold.

Tory had a solid 2025 season with 480 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 120 carries, and he put in work recruiting Trenton to join him in crimson and cream.

Blaylock visited OU this past weekend and pulled the trigger shortly after. He chose the Sooners over offers from Vanderbilt, Texas, Arkansas, and several other programs.

At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he has the ideal frame for a boundary corner and brings good length and athleticism to the position.

Recruiting services have him rated as a solid three-star. 247Sports lists him as the No. 53 cornerback nationally and the No. 71 player in the state of Texas. Rivals is a little higher on him, ranking him No. 41 at the position and No. 52 in Texas. He’s a good get at a position of need.

With Blaylock’s commitment, Oklahoma now has four cornerbacks verbally pledged in the 2027 class. That group is headlined by five-star Gabriel Osborne Jr. from Mustang, along with four-star Mikhail McCreary out of San Antonio and three-star Mikyal Davis from Desert Edge (AZ).

That’s some serious depth and talent coming in at the position.

Former defensive backs coach Jay Valai originally went hard after Blaylock to follow his brother to Norman. After Valai left for the Buffalo Bills, new corners coach LaMar Morgan took over the recruitment and closed it out.

Morgan is walking into a very important unit in 2026. With vets like Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory leading the way and Jacobe Johnson providing depth, the secondary should be one of OU’s strongest groups next season.

Morgan will also get a chance to develop the young talent already on campus and the incoming class.

The 2027 recruiting class as a whole is currently ranked third nationally according to both 247Sports and Rivals. Even with some movement and ranking fluctuations, this class still has serious star power and continues to build nicely under Brent Venables and GM Jim Nagy.

Trenton getting to play with his brother at the next level is a cool story. Now it’s time for him to put in the work, develop under Morgan, and help keep that defensive back room strong for years to come.
