Sooners continue to rank as the No. 1 football recruiting class for 2027 after the commitment from Sione Felila, and decommitment from Jaxsen Stokes

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to build one of the strongest and deepest recruiting classes in program history for the 2027 cycle.

With 20 total commitments, Brent Venables and his staff, supported by GM Jim Nagy, have assembled an elite group that ranks as the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite.

The class features outstanding star power at premium positions, impressive positional balance, and strong in-state representation.

It remains firmly on pace to challenge for the title of the greatest high school recruiting haul in Sooners history, surpassing several legendary classes from the Bob Stoops era.

Oklahoma’s recent momentum has been remarkable. A standout “Future Freaks” junior day in early March delivered a wave of commitments, including four-star QB Jamison Roberts, four-star S Jaylen Scott, four-star TE Seneca Driver, and four-star ATH Greydon Howell. Five-star LB Cooper Witten also joined earlier that week.

The class added further depth this week when three-star defensive lineman Sione Felila from Hesperia, California, pledged to the Sooners over Notre Dame, Oregon, and Cal.

However, the class experienced a minor setback on Sunday when three-star running back Jaxsen Stokes flipped his commitment from Oklahoma to in-state Cal. Stokes cited a desire to stay home in California.

This leaves the Sooners with just one committed running back in the 2027 class: four-star Keldrid Ben.

Despite the decommitment, the overall quality and volume of the class remain elite. The Sooners boast three five-star prospects and a heavy contingent of four-stars across offense and defense.

The group offers excellent depth on the offensive line, skill positions, and defensive front.

By the Numbers (as of April 28, 2026):

- Total Commits: 20

- Five-Stars: 3

- Four-Stars: 10

- Three-Stars: 7

The Sooners’ class excels in the trenches with multiple high-level offensive and defensive linemen while securing elite skill talent at quarterback, tight end, and linebacker.

The addition of Sione Felila further strengthens the defensive line rotation under Todd Bates.

Coming off a College Football Playoff appearance and carrying a preseason top-10 ranking into 2026, Oklahoma is riding its highest sustained momentum since the Stoops era.

By continuing to load up on high school talent, the Sooners are building long-term roster stability that will allow them to use the transfer portal strategically rather than as a primary building block.

With several months remaining until National Signing Day, expect more movement as Venables and staff push to add additional pieces, particularly in the secondary and backfield.

For now, the 2027 class stands as a clear statement of Oklahoma’s resurgence as a premier program in the SEC.
