The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning received a huge update on one of the program's top targets in the 2027 recruiting class.
The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning have been on a tear throughout their time on the 2027 recruitment trail.
As of this month, the program has managed to secure a total of 12 commits in the upcoming recruiting cycle, including four-star EDGE Rashad Street and cornerback Ai’King Hall. In addition to possessing one of the top-ranked classes, 11 of the 12 prospects announced their commitment to the program this year, proving that the coaching staff has momentum heading into the summer.
Now, with the Ducks flying high off their recent success, the program received some exciting news regarding another top target in the 2027 class this week.
According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Sunday evening, four-star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand has set his commitment date for May 12, with Oregon being one of four teams in the mix for the young talent.
Could Oregon Land Hildebrand?
Basha tackle Jake Hildebrand battles edge rusher Darian “Bleu” Dantzler during a practice at Basha High School on April 25, 2024. (Patrick Breen/The Republic)Hildebrand has quickly become one of the best offensive linemen in the current recruiting cycle, as he is the No. 3 prospect in the state of Arizona, as well as the No. 9 offensive tackle in the class, per 247Sports’ Composite. Most recently, the highly-touted high schooler competed in this year’s Navy All-American Bowl with some of the best prospects from both the 2026 and 2027 classes this offseason.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 273 lbs., Hildebrand will likely have to add more size to his frame in order to be a true starting offensive tackle at the college level. However, his size and athleticism, paired with impressive strength for his stature, could allow him to kick inside to the guard position once he takes the next step in his football career. Still, Hildebrand showed great promise in the All-American Bowl as an offensive tackle, holding his own against some of the best EDGE rushers in the country.
Unfortunately for Lanning and the Ducks, the program must find a way to pull him away from his in-state college of the Arizona State Sun Devils in order to land the young lineman.
247Sports’ Blair Angulo recently gave Hildebrand a crystal bowl prediction for the Sun Devils, which would be a significant blow to Oregon’s 2027 recruitment class. Oregon currently holds one offensive tackle commit in four-star Avery Michael, but if Lanning were to land Hildebrand, the Ducks would have extra insurance on the offensive line for the future.
