The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning received some excited news regarding one of the top targets in the 2027 recruiting class on Sunday.

As the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning continue to prepare for the 2026 college football season, the program has done an excellent job on the high school recruitment trail this offseason.

Within the first three months of the new year, Lanning and the coaching staff were able to land a total of five commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, including four-star defensive lineman Zane Rowe and four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder. However, the program received an exciting update on Sunday regarding one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the upcoming class.

According to Rivals’ Chad Simmons, 2027 four-star quarterback Andre Adams is set to announce his commitment on April 11, with Lanning and the Ducks being one of six teams competing for the young talent.

Adams’ Recruitment Journey

Adams is widely regarded as one of the best quarterback prospects in the upcoming class, as he is currently a top-15 quarterback in the 2027 class and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Tennessee, per 247Sports’ Composite.

While he began to receive FBS offers before his 2025 season, Adams’ impressive showing throughout the course of his junior season at Antioch High School landed him on the radar of many Power Four programs. Adams would go on to record 3,418 passing yards and 35 touchdowns to one interception, while also rushing for 855 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.

This dominant stretch led to him being named to the 2026 Under Armour All-America Game, giving him a chance to play against some of the best high school prospects in the country.

As of now, there are six teams remaining in the running for Adams, including the Florida State Seminoles, the Colorado Buffaloes, and the Kentucky Wildcats. Former Oregon offensive coordinator and newly-hired Kentucky head coach Will Stein has continued to make progress in the 2027 recruiting class and could potentially land a big-time recruit over the Ducks.

If Adams were to commit to Oregon, the 6-foot-2, 180 lbs. playmaker would be an excellent addition for the Ducks' quarterback room in the near future. Former Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Riaola recently made his way to Eugene via the transfer portal this offseason, which would give Adams a year to develop under the once highly-touted high school prospect.
