As we slowly approach the beginning of summer, the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are heating up their efforts on the 2027 recruitment trail.

So far this offseason, Lanning and the coaching staff have done a terrific job of landing multiple prospects in the upcoming recruiting class, as the program currently possesses 13 commits entering the month of June. However, Oregon’s strong efforts in the recruitment department have shown no signs of stopping for the rest of the offseason.

According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett last week, 2027 five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis has cut his list to 10 schools, with the Ducks among the many programs in the mix for the young talent.

As one of the top-ranked running backs in the nation, Williams-Callis continues to make a name for himself in the upcoming recruiting cycle. Currently, the electric playmaker is the No. 3-ranked prospect in Texas and the No. 7-ranked running back in the 2027 class, per 247Sports’ Composite.

Throughout his time at Randle High School, Williams-Callis has proven to be one of the best offensive weapons in the south. During his junior season, the 5-foot-8, 190 lbs. prospect rushed for an incredible 3,502 rushing yards and 59 touchdowns on 324 carries.

In addition to his amazing efforts on the ground, Williams-Callis also tallied 266 receiving yards and one touchdown through the air, making him a lethal dual-threat option out of the backfield.

Despite his small stature, the rising star quickly showed that he is fully capable of handling a heavy workload on offense, thanks to having 762 carries under his belt in three seasons of high school. Still, his elite athleticism with the ball in his hands would make him a perfect addition to Lanning’s offensive attack in the near future.

But, in order to land the prestigious halfback, the Ducks will have stiff competition, including multiple in-state programs in the Texas Longhorns, the Texas A&M Aggies, and the SMU Mustangs.

If Oregon is able to secure Williams-Callis, the Texas native would become the second running back in Lanning’s 2027 class, alongside four-star running back CaDarius McMiller. Fortunately for the program, the highly-touted playmaker is set to take an official visit to Eugene at the end of the month, making next weekend an important recruiting event for the Ducks.
