Five-star momentum meets a high-stakes showdown as Dan Lanning targets two-way star Brayton Feister, aiming to outmaneuver Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs for the elite Ohio playmaker.
As the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning begin to prepare for the 2026 college football season, the program has continued its recent success on the 2027 recruiting trail this summer.
Currently, the Ducks possess the No. 5 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, according to 247Sports. The group includes one of the best wide receivers in the country — five-star Dakota Guerrant — along with a total of 14 four-star commits, such as quarterback Will Mencl and EDGE Rashad Streets.
However, Lanning and his coaching staff have shown no signs of slowing down their efforts heading into the month of July, as the Ducks remain in the running for multiple talented prospects in the upcoming recruiting cycle.
One name that Oregon fans should keep a close eye on for the rest of the summer is four-star athlete Brayton Feister, as the program will look to defeat Lanning’s former team, the Georgia Bulldogs, in the recruiting battle.

The highly-touted playmaker is the No. 7 prospect in the state of Ohio, as well as the No. 8-ranked athlete in the 2027 class, per 247Sports’ Composite.
During his junior season with the Knights, Fiester caught the attention of many powerhouse programs, finishing the year with 133 tackles, 39 tackles for losses, 13 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions. In addition to his remarkable efforts on the defensive side of the ball, the stout prospect tallied 1,098 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, making him a finalist for the Ohio Mr. Football award in 2025.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 238 lbs., Fiester already possesses the ideal frame for a linebacker at the college level. His unique combination of size and strength allows him to be an excellent playmaker on defense, as he can consistently apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks while exceling as a run defender.
Unfortunately for Lanning, Oregon is now in the midst of a heated recruiting battle with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart for Fiester. Earlier this month, Fiester took official visits to both programs, with the Ducks and the Bulldogs seemingly becoming his top two schools. Now, fans will wait for the rising four-star’s decision this offseason.
