The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are in the midst of building another successful recruiting class throughout the course of the 2027 cycle this offseason.

As of June, the Ducks dominated the recruiting trail, with the program being a top-five school in 247Sports’ Rankings. Out of the 18 commits in Oregon’s 2027 class, the Ducks currently possess one five-star commit in wide receiver Dakota Guerrant, along with a total of 13 four-star commits. However, it’s clear that Lanning has shown no signs of stopping his successful run heading into the rest of the summer.

Earlier this week, 247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Dohn gave 2027 four-star athlete Xavier Sabb a crystal ball prediction to land with Oregon.

Sabb, a rising two-way star in the upcoming recruiting class, made a name for himself after a terrific 2025 campaign at Glassboro High School. Currently, the highly touted playmaker is the No. 2 prospect in the state of New Jersey, as well as the No. 3-ranked athlete in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite.

Throughout his three seasons with the Bulldogs, Sabb has proven to be a difference-maker on both sides of the ball, recording 2,396 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns on 145 receptions. In addition to his outstanding play on offense, Sabb has also been a key defensive back for his high school, tallying 61 tackles and 13 interceptions since his freshman season. And despite his success on both offense and defense, the young talent has been recruited as a wide receiver, which will allow him to continue to see time on special teams as a returner.

Fortunately for Lanning and the Ducks, the program has recently received helped from one of its top commits in the 2027 in four-star quarterback Will Mencl. When asked about the Ducks’ recruiting efforts during last month’s Elite 11 Finals, Mencl told reporters that Sabb is a key target for Oregon this offseason.

"We want Dakota Guerrant, we want Xavier Sabb, we want Blake Wong, we want Bode Sparrow," Mencl said. "In the 2028 class, we really want Braylon Clark, just to name a few. I feel really good about Xavier Sabb, Dakota. We're pushing."

With Lanning’s rich history on the recruiting trail, combined with the assistance of some of his commits, the Ducks could be on the brink of landing their third wide receiver commit in the 2027 class. Mencl and the coaching staff secured Guerrant, making Oregon a clear favorite to land Sabb this offseason.
