The Penn State Nittany Lions have been given a strong chance to take down Temple in Week 2 by ESPN.
Entering Week 2 of the college football season, the Penn State Nittany Lions will be looking to go 2-0 to open the Matt Campbell era.
Campbell kicked off his Penn State tenure by leading his team to a massive 45-0 win over Marshall in Week 1. But heading into his second game, Campbell is looking for more from his team.
Coming into the game, Penn State has been given a 94.2 percent chance to win against the Temple Owls, according to ESPN. The Nittany Lions will enter the contest heavily favored, looking to keep the strong vibes from Week 1 going.
Campbell and his team will be dealing with a 9 a.m. PT/12:00 p.m. ET kickoff against Temple, something that the team has been preparing for. The veteran coach wants his team to step up in this game, despite the early start time.
"Huge step for us. Really talked about it Saturday as soon as we got in the locker room. You're already kind of behind schedule playing a noon game, let alone on top of that having to get yourself ready for your first road trip as a team and as a program. I think this is going to be huge for us," Campbell said.
The Nittany Lions are looking to get a jumpstart on the new season, and a win over Temple could go a long way. But the Owls could poise a threat to them, witj Campbell hoping that his team doesn't overlook anything.
Road games are never easy in college football, no matter who is on the field. Campbell understands this fact, delivering a message to his team.
"Great teams play great on the road. That's just how it goes. Understanding the zoom focus is takes, understanding a noon game on the road on top of it. I think a lot of things that this group is going to have to navigate forward, with the leadership of our coaching staff, the leadership of our players. We're going to have to handle it,” Campbell said
If Penn State is going to get to where they want to go this year, winning games on the road will be paramount. The Big Ten is loaded with talent, and different matchups are going to test the will of this group.
But learning how to manage and navigate it all early in the year can help set up strong habits for the rest of the year. Campbell is looking forward to seeing if the Nittany Lions can meet the challenge against Temple head-on this weekend.
