An experienced guard is heading to Central New York by way of McNeese State.
Gerry McNamara and his Syracuse basketball coaching staff continue to remain busy this April.
Syracuse, just days ago, received confirmation from players Kiyan Anthony and Sadiq White that they would be returning to the program for their sophomore seasons.
Now both Anthony and White will have a new teammate this fall, as the Orange have now landed their third new addition to the 2026-2027 roster from the transfer portal.
According to the Field of 68's Jeff Goodman, the Orange are adding Garwey Dual from McNeese State. Goodman posted this take on Dual on social media Saturday evening.
"Elite Defender who realized his potential at McNeese St guiding them to the NCAA tourney."
Who is Garwey Dual?
Dual's basketball career has consistently involved change. After attending George Bust High School in Texas, Dual then moved to attend Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind. Dual then moved across the country to play at Southern California Academy in California.
But the movement didn't stop at high school. Syracuse will be Dual's fourth college in four years. A highly-touted prospect out of high school, Dual signed with Providence, staying with the Friars for one season. Dual then transferred within the BIG EAST Conference and joined the Seton Hall Pirates.
In his sophomore season, Dual started in 22 games but averaged less than six points per game.
In his junior year, Dual moved once again, joining McNeese State. The 6'5 guard had his best season so far in his collegiate career with the Cowboys. Dual averaged 8.4 points, 4.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. Dual has one year of eligibility left.
Transfer additions so far
Before Dual's signing, the Orange had already added two players for next year's roster from the transfer portal:
Gavin Doty
A Fulton, NY native, Doty announced his commitment to the Orange just hours after the portal opened earlier this week.
A First-Team All-MAAC selection, Doty averaged more than 18 point per game this year while also pulling nearly seven rebounds per contest. Doty's efforts helped lead Siena to their first conference title in 16 years. The Saints were eliminated as a No. 16 seed in this year's NCAA tournament, although the Saints almost pulled off an historic upset. Siena led by double-digits at halftime and held a lead with five minutes to before No. 1 Duke pulled away for the win.
Doty has two years of eligibility remaining.
Tasman Goodrick
The 6'10' big man from Australia, Goodrick also announced his intentions to leave Siena for Syracuse this April. The sophomore averaged 9.7 ppg and 7.3 rebounds before an injury cut his season short. Goodrick will also have two years of eligibility remaining.
Beyond these additions, we recently heard that Syracuse also has interest in a transfer from Florida State.
