Anthony, the son of Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, helped lead the Orange to a 40-point win over Delaware State on Saturday afternoon. Anthony had 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse University basketball standout Kiyan Anthony made quite the impression on people during Saturday's 83-43 win over Delaware State at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Getting his first career start in place of the injured J.J. Starling, Anthony scored 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. He buried two three-pointers and added four assists. He had no turnovers and picked up three rebounds.

Syracuse is now 2-0 on the young season.

    What they're saying

Delaware State head coach Stan Waterman:

"Man. Bright future. Bright future. Obviously talented. Very, very talented. Can make some shots on the perimeter, can put it on the deck. Again, he's been around the game of basketball his whole life, so that's nothing new to him. But every time I see him, it looks like he's getting better and better. And I would say that's the prospectus, that he's going to continue to get better. He's special."

    Syracuse head coach Adrian Autry:

"You know, I thought Kiyan really set the tone. Because sometimes, as a scorer, you can...not as a scorer, he's a basketball player, first of all, that's what I really want to say. People keep saying, I know he says a 'three -level scorer,' he's a really good basketball player. He can pass, he can score, he can make plays. But I thought him getting to the rim aggressively, I thought Donnie (Freeman) getting to the rim aggressively set the tone, right? We didn't settle..."

    What's next

The Orange will be back on the floor next Saturday in Philadelphia against Drexel. The game is listed as a neutral-site contest as part of the "Autumn Invitational," also involving La Salle and Penn State. That game will be at 3:30 p.m. ET.

It's unclear at this point if Anthony will start again or if Starling will be able to play. He injured his leg in the season opener against Binghamton and Autry said he wasn't able to go in this contest but that they expect him back soon.

Starling was the leading scorer for the Orange a season ago at just over 17 points per game.

    Need to know

William Kyle III, a transfer from UCLA, led the way with 13 rebounds and six blocks. He also added eight points. Donnie Freeman had a game-high 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting. He also hit 7-of-10 at the foul line.

Syracuse scored 25 points off turnovers, however they also committed 14 turnovers themselves.
