The Orange got to the NCAA Tournament this past season, but they still will have to replace a large portion of their roster because of the transfer portal.
On Friday, we learned that the Syracuse women's basketball program is hosting Oregon transfer portal candidate Sarah Rambus for a visit this weekend.
Well, Rambus isn't the only one, as the Orange will also host Tennessee transfer Deniya Prawl. She is a former McDonald's All-America selection, as noted by Dushawn London of On3. She's also going to visit Louisville, one of Syracuse's ACC Rivals.
It's unclear which day she'll visit Syracuse, but the hope would be Saturday, given that it's likely to show Syracuse off in the best light. The nationally-ranked women's and men's lacrosse teams are in action, and it's also the annual SU football spring game (7:30 p.m. ET), creating a fun and vibrant environment on campus.
About Prawl
The 6'2 freshman appeared in 29 games for the underwhelming Volunteers, playing 15.6 minutes per night. She scored four points per game and pulled down 2.7 rebounds. She attended high school at IMG Academy in Florida. She's a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, so Syracuse would certainly put her closer to home.
She's also a journalism major with a focus in sports communication, so there's no better place academically for her than Syracuse, either.
The following comes from her Tennessee player bio:
INTERNATIONAL/SUMMER BASKETBALL
- Selected for the World Team at the 2025 Nike Hoop Summit in Portland.
- Played for Team Canada at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup.
- Finished second in scoring (11.9) and first in rebounding (7.6) and steals (3.7) for the silver-medal squad.
- Tallied 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the gold medal game vs. United States.
- Represented her country at the 2023 U16 Women’s Americas Championship, putting up 10.5 ppg., 3.8 rpg. and 3.2 apg.
- Her first international action came at the 2022 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup, where she recorded 2.8 ppg., 5.2 rpg. and 1.8 apg.

The Orange finished in a tie for fifth-place in the ACC this season, earning the No. 7 seed in the ACC Tournament because of tiebreakers. They were given a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament and defeated No. 8 Iowa State before losing to top-seeded Connecticut in the Round of 32.
Despite the success, it's been an offseason of turmoil already, with five players entering the transfer portal.
Those portal entrants include top players like Sophie Burrows and Maddie Potts. Fortunately, star Uche Izoje has already said she's returning.
