The Cyclones chase a fifth straight win, but TCU eyes a signature home upset.

Iowa State heads back on the road Tuesday night with momentum still firmly on its side, but with very little margin for error in the Big 12. The Cyclones visit TCU inside Schollmaier Arena looking to extend a five-game winning streak and continue proving they belong among the nation’s elite.

The Cyclones enter the matchup fresh off a tighter-than-expected battle with Baylor, a game that exposed a few areas Iowa State will want cleaned up quickly. Slow starts and late-game execution have been minor blemishes during an otherwise impressive three-week stretch that has vaulted the Cyclones back into the Top 5 nationally.

When Iowa State plays with pace early and establishes its defensive identity, it has shown an ability to overwhelm opponents.

Tuesday’s test won’t be easy. TCU sits at 14-9 overall and 4-6 in Big 12 play, but the Horned Frogs have already shown they can beat quality teams.

Non-conference wins over Florida and Wisconsin put them on the national radar, even if league play hasn’t gone as planned. With March approaching, this game represents a major opportunity for TCU to bolster its NCAA Tournament résumé.

Home court could matter. Iowa State has been dominant when playing from in front, using ball pressure and half-court defense to dictate tempo.

On the road, that edge hasn’t always been as sharp, making a fast start crucial.

The Cyclones also must avoid peeking ahead to a looming showdown with Kansas later in the week, a classic trap scenario in a conference that punishes lapses in focus.

For TCU, the formula is simple. Protect the ball, turn the crowd into a factor, and hang around long enough to make the Cyclones uncomfortable late.

For Iowa State, discipline and defensive intensity will determine whether this stays a business trip or becomes a dangerous detour.

Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT on FS1 in Fort Worth, with both teams carrying plenty to prove.
